Environmental Responsibility

Constant and conscious acting in community life in which it is inserted is one of the work guidelines of Portonave. Environmental management of the Port of Navegantes has been tenaciously developed from the beginning of implementation. Accomplished work has always prioritized environment preservation. Acknowledgment came in 2007 when wining the Fritz Muller Prize bestowed by Fundacao do Meio Ambiente de Santa Catarina (Fatma).

Here are some of our Environmental Management Program:

1. Environmental Management Program (EMP): program that manages all the methodology applied to the other programs.

2. Eventual Water Table Contamination Monitoring Program: program that avoids possible contamination of underground water by inadequate residual deposit.

3. Marine and Estuarine Water and Eventual Sea Contamination Monitoring Program: program that verifies the water quality before, during, and after the port construction.

4. Port Mediations Traffic Improving Program: program that uses folders, signs, and orientation, and acts in the normalization of the traffic inside and outside the port.

5. Environmental Improving Program in the Port Mediations Area: program that avoids that other areas are used or affected by the terminal operations.

6. Social Communication and Communitarian Perception of the Port Monitoring Program: program that analyzes the relationship between the community and the port.

7. Environmental Recovery Program: program that studies the best way of integrating the port area to the local landscape, besides implementing actions of environmental preservation.

8. Solid Residues Management Program: program that allows to adequate the methods of collecting and final disposal of solid residues produced in the port.

9. Environmental Education Program: program that enables educational projects and the improvement in the life of the populationn localized in areas near the port.

10. Accident Prevention and Environmental Risks Management Program: program that avoids dredged material is disposed in inappropriate local.
